Stop – The timer will automatically stop when time reaches this point. Blink – Indicates that the speaker has seriously overtimed and should be pulled off the stage. Red – Indicates that the speaker should stop immediately. Yellow – Indicates that the speaker should be completing his or her speech shortly. Green – This indicates that the speech has passed the minimum time required. Each time mark represents increasing points in time in which a speech progresses. There are five time marks that may be configured for each speech type. Tapping on the Edit button in the upper-right allows adding, removing or editing entries in this list as well as re-arranging it. Each speech type determines at what times does the various lights turn on. The Speech Types tab displays the various speech types available for selection. The speech light changes and the corresponding flag modes are shown in the screenshots below. This is so that the phone may be used as both timer and color flag. But when the time haven’t reached green, the screen will turn white instead. If you hold your phone straight up while the timer is running, the entire screen will turn to green/yellow/red as according to the timer lights. The Green button will also changes from Start to Pause which allows you to suspend timekeeping temporarily. While the timer is running, the phone will sound a short beep when the timing lights change. Speech Timer comes with an initial set of speech types that may be modified and re-arranged, or even deleted. When you have entered the orator name and choose a speech type, tap on Done. While you type, Speech Timer will provide suggestions based on the names available in your address book – just tap on the suggested name to choose it. You can also enter the person who is making the speech (orator name). ![]() The speech type is used to determine at what times the appropriate colored lights will turn on. Pressing the grey button displays speech setup screen. Just below that display shows a progress bar which ranges from time zero up to after the time in which the red light turns on – at this time the lights will blink indicating that the speech have overtimed beyond the hard maximum speech time limit. Above the numeric time display shows at what times the green, yellow, and red lights will turn on. The Timer tab shows the timer display along with the green, yellow, and red time markers. But it helps people when they prepare their speech their home. Of course it is not as complete as the whole course. Speech Timer is an application helping people to practice speech such as for Toastmasters. ![]()

Trust me, I have only bought one and it has lasted me at least a year and there’s still a ridiculous amount of powder left. It’s hella cheap and you get a fuckton amount of powder that will last you years. I use it whenever I do my makeup and it sets is beautifully. Then I just blend into the skin with the sponge. I prefer to use a cosmetic sponge, like my wannabe beauty blender or a triangle wedge. This is great for setting under eye concealer and to “cook” your highlight. I only have to reapply once if I feel like pulling it out of my bag and getting my sponge and doing that whole process. This keeps my face matte for most of the day since I do have really oily skin, especially with this ridiculous Cali weather. I applied too little and didn’t blend into the skin or wipe off excess. Well…….turns out I was doing it all wrong. I thought it made me look white and didn’t set my makeup at all. ![]() I have to admit, when I first started using this I hated it. It’s not glitter or anything, but there is a slight shimmer which is great since it makes it look my skin look more like skin while still proving me with a (mostly) matte finish. Once on the skin, if you look closely (which I do since I don’t wear my glasses when applying makeup) you can see that it also reflects light. I have been using this for about a year now and I have barely noticed that it isn’t 100% matte. For a while I just knew that it set my face matte and was perfect for touch ups and if I felt a bit oily on my t- zone. So I’m just talking about how it appears once on the skin. Since it is a translucent powder the point is that it will blend into any skin type to set it without adding any coverage or color. If you use the taco method Wayne Goss mentioned it works absolutely divine. But where these pieces drew on consumer goods such as DHL jackets or Thrasher t-shirts, this batch of meme-able, hype-friendly garments pull inspiration from a new social cachet: the internet. But you only need to think of Demna-era Vetements or Balenciaga’s 2018 tourist bags to understand that this unorthodox approach isn’t new: designers have been creating viral garments, items that have the irony and popularity of memes, for years. Many of the trend’s key designers are self-taught. It was only a matter of time until this post-ironic strain of fashion would make its way across the web and into the shopping baskets of e-girls and edgelords.īut make no mistake: for those not trudging it out in the internet trenches, these clothes could easily be mistaken for low-end tatt – the sort of stuff you would, and indeed do, find in dollar stores everywhere. Like Dimes Square’s meme-able micro-neighbourhood, the garments are designed for as much life online as off. Spread across various Substacks, podcasts and anonymous Twitter accounts, here’s a side of the internet where people with art jobs, Elf Bars and stimulant prescriptions mark their allegiance to online culture by listening to reactionary podcasts like Red Scare, wearing cross pendants and making self-aware jokes about being God’s favourite. It’s unsurprising that these clothes initially captivated the attention of New York downtowners. But on closer inspection, they reflect a wider shift away from pop culture towards the atomised, frenzied world of the internet. Balancing irony and sincerity, these garments appear, on the surface, deceptively simple: tees, hoodies and bags plastered with slogans in a basic Times New Roman or crude edits of pop-culture characters. It’s no Telfar bag in Dimes Square but the garments embody the same self-referential and ironic aesthetic prevalent in memes, with brands such as Praying, Maxine Beiny and OGBFF gaining cult-like followings, combining internet speak with distinct online personas catered to grab the attention of even the smoothest brains. Nowadays, memes are leaking out of our phone screens and onto the streets, as online vernacular taken from social media feeds is being made into mimetic slogans and provocative silk-screened graphics. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but the story and its nihilistic, shitty irony would serve as a useful metaphor for a trendy fashion taking over the city – and online. A few months ago, I sat at a Dunkin’ Donuts in New York while a friend told me about a prank they wanted to pull: to buy a fake Telfar bag, place it in the middle of Dimes Square and watch the inevitable rush of twenty-something downtowners encircle said bag, only to discover that it’s been soiled by a steaming pile of dog shit. ![]() ![]() ![]() In 1955 the International Astronomical Union defined several categories of Universal Time of successively increasing accuracy. Even though many of its tropes are a bit played out within the genre, Skatebird is a game that knows it’s silly, and embraces it in a way that makes it fun to play (on PC).This is Press Play, a documentary-like podcast that delves into games, the people behind them and the culture of them. However, if you have the option, go with the PC version of the game, especially considering that the game is coming to Xbox Game Pass next month. By all means, if you have younger gamers or Switch is your primary gaming device, then playing Skatebird on Switch will probably be just fine for you. I’m not going to say “buyer beware” in regards to the Switch version of Skatebird. I’m glad that the team behind Skatebird seems to share this same sentiment. If we’re currently living in a new golden age of skateboarding games, it’s only appropriate that Ska comes roaring back in as well. Featuring a completely original soundtrack composed by Nathan Madsen, along with a handful of licensed tracks, Skatebird’s music is my favorite part of the game – whether I’m mindlessly cruising throughout the level while listening to chill hop-style rhythms and melodies (which referred to as lofi Bird-hop by its creators), or bobbing my head along to the beat of a Ska track. Whether you’re playing on Switch or PC, by far, the best feature in Skatebird is its music. I was about as non-zen as I could be while playing Skatebird on Switch – a stark difference in comparison to our preview of the game. Okay, that’s a bit dramatic, but with the typewriter and graphical issues, along with the unresponsive controls (which I mostly attribute to the terribly designed Joy-Con controllers), it just wasn’t an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, the entire Switch experience gave me a sour taste in my mouth and had me ready to hurl my handheld device out my second story window and onto the street below where perhaps a skateboarder would ollie directly onto the device, shattering it into a million pieces. I initially began my review by playing the game on the Nintendo Switch, since it seemed to be the platform of choice that was shown off during various gaming showcases in the build-up to its release. With that said, I need to disclose that I’m approaching this review a bit differently than other reviews, as I reviewed Skatebird on two different platforms at basically the same time. While playing, I couldn’t help but be reminded of a really, REALLY well-done remaster of 1998’s Rugrats: Search for Reptar levels mixed with 2000’s Grind Session (I promise this is a compliment). Don’t expect to be blown away if you’re already a hardened veteran of the genre. In that sense, the game is a great entry point for those just starting to cut their teeth on the skateboarding genre. You do, however, have a double jump ability and a slower descent back to the ground after catching big air. If you’ve played any games in the THPS series, you will be immediately familiar with Skatebird’s single button flip tricks, grabs, rotations, stalls, and grinds. ![]() Each level has a different theme, such as a bedroom and an office, where Birb will kick flip and tail grab its way over ramps, rails, and big air jumps made out of everyday objects like leftover pizza boxes and straws.Ĭontrols are about as straightforward as you can get. ![]() Related: Xbox Game Pass Adding 13 Games, Including SkateBird, Aragami 2, And SableIn terms of its overall gameplay, Skatebird puts you in the skate shoes (talons?) of Birb – a house bird who skates throughout sandbox-like levels while taking on missions and collecting hidden objects. That is, depending on which platform you play the game on. And for the most part, it’s a welcome addition to skating’s gaming catalog. However, considering that at that time, we were just entering a revitalized era of skateboarding video games with titles such as Session, Skater XL, THPS 1 + 2, and the announcement of the next Skate game, it only made sense that Skatebird’s humorous spin on the extreme sport would come about in some form or another. Sure, the idea of a skateboarding bird wasn’t quite as appealing as playing as the Hawkman himself (a desire that actually became a reality later in the year with the surprise release of the remastered Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2). While the rest of the games shown off during the Wholesome Direct had me excited, it was Skatebird that piqued my interest. ![]() ![]() Despite its original announcement in 2018, followed by a successfully funded Kickstarter campaign in 2019, I was first made aware of Skatebird during last year’s Wholesome Direct 2020, when I watched a spunky, fat, little bird cruising around on its skateboard and grinding rails like, well, Tony Hawk. ![]() ![]() ![]() Examples of these are previewed in the video below.
